Hello! My name is Jeannette and welcome to my shop, Daybreak Agora!
The agora was a central public space in Ancient Greek city-states. The literal meaning of the word “agora” is “gathering place” or “assembly”. The agora was also famously known for housing the Temple of Haphaestus, the Greek god of metalworking and craftsmen.
I could probably put the responsibility of my creative background squarely on my mothers’ shoulders. Her thing was, “If you didn’t see it: create it!” It was the 70s, and I must admit to making several strands of “love beads”, head bands and macramé belts.
I enjoy creating unique pieces that you probably won’t find anywhere else. I start a design by laying all sorts of beads, stones, and metal items in various colors, shapes, and sizes on my work table and move them around until it clicks.
I do get ideas from various publications and books, but I adapt them to what I have on hand, or make it a color combination that I find pleasing.
My preferred medium is seed beads because they can easily be manipulated into unique shapes, and are available in a variety of colors and sizes.
I would like to give a huge shout out to my oldest offspring, Pat, without whom I would still be trying to get decent photos, and giving my shop the look you see before you.
